There is always so much rhetoric in giving the history or science to back up the benefits of certain practices for mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health.
WELL while that is great and serves its purpose.
We going to freestyle this and purely speak from ethereal & individual experience/research.
Fasting. Why do people fast? There is many cultural, spiritual, & now of course with science reasons HUMans fast. In terms of fasting the body physiologically from liquids or solids. There are these infamous types of fasting:
No meat (vegan type fast)
No solids (only liquid fasting: smoothies, herbal teas, juices, water)
Only juicing fast with water
Only dry herbal tea fast
Water fast
Dry fast
I have done each of these fasts either for one day or multiple days. Each time I fast, prayer comes into the picture. Im not speaking about getting on my knees type prayer. More like a meditative state type vibe. Letting the insights come forth. The many reasons to fast:
Mental clarity
Regenerating new cells
Ketosis
Cleaning out the bodies system
Letting the body heal itself
Connecting to deeper parts of ourselves spiritually & emotionally
Detoxing from sugar
When one does a juice, herbal tea, water or dry fast. Here are some of the bodies reactions what can happen in order when the body wants solid foods:
jitters
craving greasy or sugary food
smell of flavors become intense
headaches
sleepy
clarity
extreme awareness or focus
dry mouth
relaxed
restless
hunger
then sleep
Then you wake up! & eat. The first foods to digest should be something like fruits or oatmeal things of that nature, then do a solid.
When I first started fasting and still remind myself when the fast is difficult that I do for the day is; rest, nap, focus on my breathing, meditate, take it slow, be gentle with myself, be easy with my thoughts, methodical movements, limit my talking when feeling unease to get through the any uncomfortable reactions of the body.
Hope this gave some solid insight on fasting & prayer
